“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” —Mark Twain

when is fathers day

So when is fathers day? I certainly won’t say that it is every day, but sometimes when I am at my best I do indeed feel appreciative of all the wonderful things that are going on around me, but the best thing I do have is my family and being able to be a father. I know there are times when you want to be you and times that you need a break, but  overall if I ask any father I know he will tell you that every day is a great day to be a father and comfortable admitting it!

So without further conversation, here are the dates for the next 10 years of Fathers Day!

If that does not tell you that Father's Day is always on Sunday I don't know what will..!

Check back in every year, in around 5 years or so and I hope to add more dates as we go, I did not want to get to carried away with the future so I will add the years gradually.

Did you know that the first fathers day was based on a Frommy? It is true!  The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910 at the request of a daughter of a civil war veteran who raised five children without a wife, this occurred in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972 that Richard Nixon made Father’s Day official that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.

Another interesting bit of information is that there has been father day type celebrations that have occurred around the world for centuries, one of the most notable is the Catholic celebration of St. Joseph the husband of Mary that occurs on March 19! This celebration commemorates the life and fatherhood of Joseph.

I would also like to add in a little note for you, if you are moved by fathers day, whether it is for your husband, your dad or your child, please take a moment and look at our father based children's books, it might not be obvious from the cover but they are father daughter based and the stories are largely about the love shared by fathers and family.  I wrote all of them in the perspective of a dad looking after his child and the important on-goings one can experience in an ordinary life. It is an uplifting and loving collection of tales that a dad and a mom will understand. The collocation is continually being added to as well. The book can even be used as a card for father's day and that it can stay on a  shelf and be shared every year or every day for that matter, and the softback is about the price of a Hallmark card!

“Is fathers days just another hallmark holiday? If it is.. it’s my favorite one of the year!”

-  Christopher Jude

We are also in the works of the book in the series, A Dandelion Girl: A Campus Wish. In this tale, a little girl gets taken to the local universities football game by her father. There they are supposed to meet her brother to enjoys the game with. However trouble occurs when her brother gets separated in the very large crowd and they have his ticket. The little girls again looks to the dandelions for answers and not to just make a one wish, but with help of the mascots they find a way to find her brother before the game starts! - Yes, if dads a football fan and has a little girl it will be perfect for him and her, whether on fathers day, his birthday or her birthday!

Thanks for coming by, I know that from a dads perspective I hope I don't have to wait for just one time a year to get what really completes my day and that's love from my family.
